my brothernlaw recently bought a ppc. A friend of his,who has been flying ppc’s for 12 years,took my 2 boys age 7 & 9,for a ride 2 weeks ago,and they loved it.My ex-husband called child protective services with concerns of child endangerment,and now I am unable to see or speak to my boys,until the investigation is over.I desperately need some expert advice,as I know that he is only doing this because of the custody battle we are in the middle of.Would someone please give me feedback,negative or positive on if you feel that they are too young or if they think it is too dangerous for them?Also a comparison of this vs.bungee jumping at Six Flags,which is what he let them do just last month.Please,I need as much feedback as possible!! THANX,DESPERATE MOM,MISSING HER BOYS!!!

Flying, as with any sport, is as safe or as dangerous as you make it. I don’t know much about bungee jumping, so I can’t make a comparison. Wish you and your boys all the best, and a speedy resolution.

I am a private pilot and have purchased an E-LSA PPC and am now training with a CFI to gain proficiency in this aircraft. After getting signed off for this aircraft, I would like to attend the 16 hour course so I can perform my own 100 hour inspections. I live in Allen, Texas and am having difficulty finding where I can get this training. Any suggestions?

Mike, you ask a very good question. I recommend Carol and Brian Carpenter with Rainbow Aviation Services. They offer the 16-hour and 120-hour repairman courses. Their web site is http://www.rainbowaviation.com.

Paul, I see that there are several businesses conducting joy flights on ppc’s. 15 minute, 30 minute and even 1 hour long sightseeing flights. I’m wondering what the qualifications are for the pilot or owner to conduct this business? Is the sport pilot license required under the FAR103 if the ppc is under 254 lbs empty weight?

All commercial “intro” flights must be done with a flight instructor in an N Numbered aircraft not FAR 103. FAR 103 is only for a single place ultralight.
